What to Expect

Your First Visit
Many people have questions about what to expect from their first chiropractic experience.  The following paragraphs will help to explain the process of your first visit with DC Health.

Patient Forms
Prior to your first scheduled appointment, you will be required to complete a few standard health care intake forms. You need not arrive early, as time to fill out forms is considered into your scheduled time.
Save time at your first appointment by printing a new patient intake form today and bringing it in with you to your first scheduled visit.

Consultation
Once the paperwork is complete, you will meet with Dr. Harris. Your first visit is designed to discover more about you, your condition, and your expectations in order to determine whether chiropractic care will meet your goals. During this time, feel free to ask any questions or address any concerns you might have. If Dr. Harris believes you are a good candidate for care, he will proceed with the examination.

Examination
After your consultation, if you choose to continue with care, Dr. Harris will perform a complete chiropractic examination which will evaluate your posture, range of motion, as well as other standard neurological, orthopedic, and physical examinations. These tests will provide Dr. Harris with the information he needs to accurately diagnose your condition.

X-Ray Studies
X-rays are not performed on site as they are not regularly required. If necessary, Dr. Harris may have an x-ray examination ordered at an outside imaging center. Radiography is a diagnostic tool that will help evaluate your case and lead to a more accurate diagnosis. X-rays are sometimes essential to rule out more serious conditions. If additional studies such as MRI or CT are indicated, Dr. Harris will refer you to another specialist to have these completed.

Report of Findings
After all the information from your exam has been gathered, Dr. Harris will review it and develop a treatment plan for your specific needs. He will discuss the prognosis for your condition based on the exam information and any other concerns you may have.
Dr. Harris will also address the three most common questions patients ask:  1. Can you help me?  2. How can you help me?  3. How long will it take?

Treatment
After the review of findings, you will receive your first treatment. The treatment may consist of chiropractic adjustments, Cox Flexion-Distraction, and/or soft tissue therapies. In addition, exercise instruction may be incorporated where applicable. Dr. Harris will be sure to explain in detail each therapy prior to the treatment.

Length of Appointment
Your first visit with Dr. Harris will typically last about 30 minutes. This will be sufficient to perform the consultation, examination, and first treatment. Additional visits after the initial examination will typically last approximately 15 minutes. This process was specifically created to deliver the best and most personal care possible.
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

• You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any nonemergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

• Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.

• If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

• Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
